Glenn Beck has taken on FreedomWorks as a sponsor and is touting the organization on his radio show as the best suited to unite tea party activists.
“I want to send you the message that FreedomWorks, and we’ve looked, is the only organization that we have seen that really truly has the organizational power,” Beck said on his radio show Tuesday. “They have the infrastructure. They have the have the organizational power. They have the ability to get information to people quickly en masse. And we must, must, must link arms with people.”
FreedomWorks, run by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, is one of several organizations that has spurred on the tea party movement — most frequently by notifying their network of protesters taking care of event logistics.
Beck, an immensely popular figure in the tea party movement, said that his decision to work with FreedomWorks was a “hard decision” because he did not “want to send the message to you that the way to restore our republic is through the political process only.”
But, Beck said, “we need the tea party protests to continue. We need people to reach out to each other.”
So, in order to build the movement, Beck urged his listeners to “go to FreedomWorks.org,” because, Beck said channeling the group’s motto, “Freedom Works.”
“You’re going to get a free DVD that outlines the plan to take America back this November,” Beck’s pitch continued. “You’ll also get a ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ souvenir flag. So well, at least Homeland Security will know where you stand."
